What Biddie is
Biddie is a marketplace. Clients post jobs they need done, contractors send bids, and the client chooses who to hire. Biddie isn’t an employer, an agency or a contractor, and we don’t do or supervise the work.
When a client accepts a bid, the agreement for the work is between the client and the contractor. They agree the price, timing and how payment works between themselves. Payment for the work doesn’t go through Biddie.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older to use Biddie.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- Use one account each, and don’t create a new account to get around a suspension.
For clients
- Posting jobs and hiring a contractor is free.
- Describe your job honestly, and only post work that’s legal.
- You choose who to hire. Check that a contractor suits the job before you accept their bid.
- We can’t promise that a job will get bids, or that work will be done to a certain standard or price.
For contractors
- Keep your profile, services and service area accurate.
- We review every contractor before they can bid. We can approve or decline a profile, and remove an approval if these terms are broken. An approval isn’t a guarantee or an endorsement of your work.
- You’re responsible for having the registrations, licences and certificates your work needs, such as an electrical certificate of compliance or plumbing registration. You’re also responsible for your own insurance, tax and safety.
- A bid is your offer to the client. If the client accepts it, do the work as agreed.
Contractor subscription
Contractors use Biddie for free until they place their first bid. After that, a subscription applies:
- Price: the price shown before you subscribe, currently R199 a month. There’s no commission on your jobs and no fee per lead.
- Launch bonus: there are no charges at all until the end of January 2027. If you’ve placed a bid by then, your subscription starts in February 2027.
- Payment: billing hasn’t started yet, and before you’re charged, we’ll email you how to pay and how to cancel.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we may pause your bidding until it’s paid.
- Price changes: we’ll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies. It starts from your next billing period.
Cancelling your subscription
- Once billing starts, you can cancel at any time by emailing support@biddie.io from your account’s email address. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, email us from any address and we’ll confirm it’s you. We’ll also email you how to cancel before you’re charged. You keep full access until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
- We don’t refund the rest of a period you’ve already paid for, except in the cooling-off period: you can cancel within 7 days of your first paid subscription starting and get a full refund. We’ll refund you within 30 days of you cancelling. If we refund you, your access ends when you cancel.
- If you want to delete your account, cancel your subscription first so you aren’t charged again. See how to cancel and how account deletion works.
Reviews
Clients can rate and review a contractor once the work is done. Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience of the job. Don’t post fake reviews, or reviews in return for payment. We may remove reviews that break these terms.
Your content
You own what you post on Biddie, such as job details, photos, bids, profiles and reviews. You give Biddie permission to store and show it so that Biddie works, for example to show your job to contractors in your area. Only post photos and content you have the right to share.
What’s not allowed
- Anything illegal, false or misleading.
- Offensive, abusive, hateful, discriminatory or sexual content.
- Harassing or threatening other users.
- Spam, or content that has nothing to do with a job.
- Sharing other people’s personal information without their permission.
- Pretending to be someone else, or misrepresenting your business.
- Scams, fraud or asking for payment for work you don’t intend to do.
- Interfering with Biddie, its security or other people’s use of it, including copying data from Biddie with automated tools.
Reporting and removal
To report a job, bid, profile, review or user, email support@biddie.io. We review every report.
We remove content that isn’t relevant, is abusive or breaks these terms. We may also suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Where we can, we’ll tell you why.
Problems between clients and contractors
Disagreements about a job, its price or its quality are between the client and the contractor, and we encourage you to sort them out directly. We may try to help if you contact us, but we aren’t responsible for resolving them.
Our responsibility
We run Biddie with reasonable care and skill. We can’t promise that Biddie will always be available or free of errors.
We aren’t responsible for the work clients and contractors agree, how users behave, or payments between them. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, such as lost income or profit. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, or any liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
Closing your account
You can stop using Biddie and delete your account at any time. See how account deletion works. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your information when an account is deleted.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you keep using Biddie after a change, the new terms apply.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and South African courts can hear any dispute about them.
